The Process We Used to Evaluate
To assess the strollers’ maneuverability, we took them on a series of obstacle courses measuring about 50 feet long, with tight corners and obstacles such as stairs and curbs.
To test the strollers’ durability, we ran them through a series of obstacle courses set up in a park, including a gravel road, grassy fields, and muddy wooded trails.
During testing, we took note of how easy it was to fold the strollers and how well the canopies covered each child. To check accessories, we used the sun canopies and rain covers on all of the strollers.
We also noted which features were easy to use (or not) and which accessories were essential. We ran each stroller with at least one child, from about 15 months old to 4 years old.
Pet Gear No-Zip Happy Trails Pet Stroller
Why Should You Buy It
The Pet Gear No-Zip Happy Trails Jogger is a smartly designed stroller for dogs that excels at all the basics: It has a no-zip entry, a paw-friendly elevated rest, and a panoramic view window and top window with a viewing area.
The stroller also folds easily with one hand using an intuitive one-step mechanism, and it comes with a 600 denier water-resistant fabric. It’s not the best choice if you’re looking for something that you’ll use constantly on a daily basis, because it’s on the bulky side, and the entry doesn’t have a zipper, so it’s harder to access the dog than the other strollers with zippers in this test.
BestPet Pet Stroller
Why Should You Buy It
If you want to take your dog for a run, but you don’t want to bring your entire car with you, this pet stroller is for you. The BestPet Pet Stroller is the most stable, comfortable, and easy-to-fold stroller we tested, and it’s the only one we found that can accommodate pets up to 25 pounds.
It has a smooth, sturdy ride and a generous amount of space for your pet, a water bottle for you, multiple pockets, and a swivel wheel that makes it easy to navigate through grass and dirt.
In addition, this jogger stroller folds down small enough to fit in the trunk of a small car. It’s comfortable for both you and your pet, and it has a one-hand folding mechanism that’s easy to use.
Our testers found this pet stroller to be the easiest to assemble, too. And if you have any questions or issues with your stroller, the company’s customer service is quick and helpful.
Kenyone Dog Stroller
Why Should You Buy It
The Kenyone Jogger Stroller is sturdy and well made but also lightweight and easy to fold. It can hold up to 60 pounds and is built with a 600D Oxford cloth that’s water-resistant.
Like the other strollers we tested, it has a one-handed brake and a durable pet leash that help bring peace of mind on longer walks.
With a mesh window, you and your pet will get airflow, visibility, and multiple entry points, making it easier for your pet to get in and out of the stroller.
It’s also equipped with a handle that you can use separately from the stroller in the car or for any time of traveling. The company’s customer service has also been reliable in our experience.
VIVO Black 4 Wheel Pet Stroller
Why Should You Buy It
The VIVO Black 4 Wheel Pet Stroller for Cat, Dog, and More is our top choice for joggers because it offers the best balance of maneuverability, cargo capacity, and pet comfort. In our tests, it glided easily across grass and gravel, but it was also nimble enough to navigate the crowded, narrow aisles of an indoor pet store.
This stroller holds pets weighing up to 30 pounds, and it works best for one pet at a time, though you could certainly fit two smaller animals. The pet compartment is large and offers zipper access points, so you can easily interact with your pet while you’re running.
The mesh windows enable your pet to see out and also provide ample ventilation to keep your pet safe and healthy during a run.
It folds up compactly, so it’s easier to transport and store than other strollers we tested. It has two cup holders, a center tray, and a large under-seat storage basket that can hold all your running gear, including a water bottle and keys.

Its large 6.3-inch wheels glide easily over smooth or rough terrain. The stroller’s front wheels can be rotated 360 degrees with no dead ends, and you can turn on the straight walk feature to achieve a fully featured mobile lifestyle.
Our testers found the stroller to be comfortable for their short- and medium-length runs, and it was easy to fold and store. This pet stroller also comes equipped with a cup holder near the handle and a roomy undercarriage.
Our testers loved the hooded Peaked Top Window on this stroller, which provided a great view for humans and dogs.
Things to Keep in Mind
For this guide, we researched hundreds of different strollers and read customer reviews from across the web. We looked for models that were more suitable for running than other types.
In addition to looking at general stroller design, we considered the following criteria:
Storage And Accessibility
All jogging strollers should be able to carry essentials such as water, keys, a phone, and snacks. Some models have pockets on the handles or underneath the seat; some have both. A few also have trunk accessories that can be attached to the back of the stroller.
Safety And Security
Jogging strollers often hold a lot of expensive gear (your kid and stuff), so they need to be securely locked in place when you’re running (so they don’t unexpectedly veer off across a parking lot or into traffic). All models we considered should come with locking wheels that are secured with a lever.
