The Process We Used to Evaluate
We took our dog-walking finalists to a walking park in the San Francisco Bay Area, where we jogged with our dogs and the dog-walkers. We ran with the strollers on flat, grassy trails and hilly, muddy trails.
We took the strollers on and off bus and train steps, as well as onto and off curbs and sidewalks. We asked dog owners to consider what they look for in a dog-walking stroller. We also took note of how easy it was to take care of strollers—how difficult it was to remove mud or dog hair from them, how easy it was to wipe them down, how easy it was to fold and unfold them, how easy they were to carry, and how easy they were to store after use.
We also took note of how easy it was to steer the strollers over various surfaces, which helped us determine their maneuverability. And we checked for any dangerous pinch points or pinch hazards.
We let dog owners know about any issues we ran into when we used the strollers.
Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Ultra-Compact Travel Stroller
Here’s What We Have Found
The City Tour is the lightest, most compact, and most maneuverable stroller we’ve ever tested, weighing only 14 pounds and folding down small enough that you could feasibly check it on a plane.
It’s also the simplest to open and close, thanks to an auto-lock mechanism and one-step fold (something even the heaviest and most spacious strollers can’t claim).
The City Tour is not intended for jogging or even brisk walking, but it does have an adjustable handlebar and an ultra-comfortable, multi-position reclining seat, so your passenger should be able to nap in it.
It also comes with a carry bag to protect the stroller from dirt and scratches when traveling.
Chicco Bravo 3-in-1 Trio Travel System
Here’s What We Have Found
The Bravo Trio Travel System is an affordable option that lets you use the same stroller and car seat from birth to toddlerhood. Our testers loved this stroller and found it roomy, comfortable, and maneuverable, plus it was easy to fold and store.
The stroller’s storage basket is large and the canopy is generously sized compared with those on other strollers in this price range. The storage basket is easier to access than on other strollers, too, because the push handle folds down and out of the way.
The Bravo Trio has a one-hand, multi-position reclining seat, a child tray with cup holders, and a large sunshade with a peek-a-boo mesh window. This travel system is one of the most affordable ways to get a car seat and stroller in one package, and it’s an especially good choice for families that plan to use a car seat for multiple children.
Kolcraft – Cloud Plus Lightweight Easy Fold Compact Travel Baby Stroller
Here’s What We Have Found
The Kolcraft Cloud Plus Lightweight Stroller is our favorite umbrella stroller because it’s lightweight and folds down small enough to fit in a trunk or even on a train.
The extended canopy and peek-a-boo window offer ample sun and wind protection, and the all-terrain wheels let you roll over grass and gravel. The Cloud Plus’s seat reclines about halfway between fully upright and fully reclined, and it holds children up to 50 pounds and 40 inches tall.
The storage basket is roomy enough for all the items you’ll need to take on a day trip, and the built-in cup holders and parent tray keep your essentials within reach. The stroller is simple to operate and is easy to fold with one hand.
Baby Trend Sky View Plus Travel System
Here’s What We Have Found
The sturdy Baby Trend Flex Lock stroller with car seat attachment offers the best way to transport babies and dogs on a walk. In our testing, it was the only stroller to securely hold an infant car seat, and it did so in multiple vehicles, thanks to its car seat base.
The five-point harness keeps a baby secure, and the stroller’s large storage basket, adjustable handle, and multiple recline options make it a great travel companion. The stroller’s storage basket is larger than that of the other strollers we tested, and its parent tray is better, too, with two cup holders and a covered storage compartment.
Summer Infant 3D Mini Convenience Stroller
Here’s What We Have Found
The Summer 3D Mini Convenience Stroller is one of the lightest strollers we tested. It’s easy to fold and lift into the trunk of a car, and the 11-pound frame makes longer strolls a breeze.
It offers a full-size seat, as well as auto-lock, anti-shock front wheels and lockable rear wheels, making it one of the most maneuverable strollers we tested. We think the Summer 3D Mini is a great all-around travel and everyday stroller.
It offers an everyday and travel stroller option, and it’s a great choice for parents who want to use the same stroller for multiple children. The multi-position recline, padded seat back, and padded 5-point safety harness keep your little one comfortable in all positions.
This stroller has a maximum weight capacity of 45 pounds and a tire type of EVA. The compact fold makes it simple to store this lightweight umbrella stroller, and the hassle-free canopy with flip out sun visor is perfect for sunny days.
It also has two cup holders, a storage basket, and a rear storage pocket for all the extra stuff parents tend to bring along on the go.
Don’t Buy Before Considering These Factors
We started by conducting a search of our guide to the best strollers, which we update periodically as new contenders emerge. We also looked at recommendations from multiple parenting magazines and websites that focus on travel.
Beyond that, we considered the following criteria when making our selection:
Strength Of Frame And Wheels
The stroller should be able to handle rough trails, grassy parks, gravel paths, and short stretches of pavement. It should also be able to go off-road without tipping over (provided you go at a slower pace), or without suffering damage or loss of functionality.
Readily Available Replacement Parts
If a wheel pops off while you’re out walking with your dog, you don’t want to have to wait until Monday morning to order a new one; it should be available immediately.
Size And Weight
You’ll be more willing to take your stroller along on walks if it’s easy and convenient to move around.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the safest stroller for dog owners?
There is no definitive answer as to which stroller is the safest for dog owners. However, choosing a stroller that is sturdy and well-made is likely to be the safest option. Additionally, it is important to ensure that the stroller has a safety harness for the dog, and that the dog is properly restrained while in the stroller.
2. Which stroller for dog owners is best?
There is no definitive answer to this question as different dog owners will have different preferences. However, some popular stroller models for dog owners include the Pet Gear I-GO2 Plus, the Pet Gear Expedition, and the Solvit Houndabout II.
3. Is it safe to walk your dog with a stroller?
There is no right or wrong answer to this question as it depends on the individual dog and the individual stroller. Some dogs may be perfectly content to ride in a stroller, while others may become agitated or restless. If you are considering using a stroller to walk your dog, be sure to watch your dog closely and see how he or she reacts to the stroller. If your dog seems agitated or uncomfortable, it is best not to use the stroller.

Ultimately, it is best to use your own judgement and to be aware of the risks involved.
5. Will taking my dog out for a walk in a jogging stroller spoil it?
